Lawyer - Criminal, Penal, and Statutory Law

Under the authority of the immediate supervisor, you will act as a legal advisor for all matters related to the operations of the Laval Police Service. In this capacity, you will conduct legal research, draft documents of all kinds, provide training, and may sometimes be called upon to make representations before all common law and administrative courts. You will also be required to provide legal opinions that impact the policing practices of the Laval Police Service or other municipal services.

• Education acquired through a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B);
• Possess ten (10) years of relevant experience;
• Member in good standing of the Quebec Bar.
• Experience representing before the courts;
• Have a good ability to adapt and be versatile;
• Possess excellent legal acumen;
• Be skilled in expressing and writing clearly, concisely, and precisely;
• Be dynamic and able to work under pressure.
• Knowledge of laws applicable to the police field (Police Act, Criminal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, etc.) desirable;
• Experience working in a police and operational environment, desirable.
